Primary Purpose:

To deliver food and/or warehouse supplies to the cafeterias in a safe and efficient manner.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License and a good driving record
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 60 days, a State of Texas or ANSI accredited Food Handler’s Certification

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records and driver logs
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others
  • Demonstrate good time management skills

Experience:

  • Driving or warehouse experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Receive, stock and deliver warehouse supplies and/or prepared food items from central kitchen to satellite cafeterias according to schedule.
  • Rotate dates and stock supplies as deliveries are made. Assist with inventory.
  • Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and school freezer areas.
  • Maintain vehicle – assure cleanliness and reports accidents or mechanical problems to transportation, Warehouse Manager and Manager.
  • Responsible for checking vehicle each morning, before going on deliveries, to insure all systems are in good, safe working order. If malfunction is found, driver is to inform Warehouse Manager immediately and to complete written report.
  • Follow district and departmental policies and procedures as outlined in employee handbook.
  • Must be mentally alert.
  • May have to work in whatever capacity is needed other than driving duties.
  • Adhere to HACCP guidelines.

 

Other

  • Must obtain minimum required annual Professional Standard training hours, per USDA regulations.
  • Must attend required training, in-service and work related activities.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Manual Trades - Central Distribution Personnel.

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals; district vehicle; large and small kitchen equipment

Posture: Frequent standing, sitting; walking, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, wrist turning, grasping, finger manipulation and twisting.  Must be able to use step ladder, sweep, mop, and clean equipment

Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent reaching

Vision & Hearing: Moderate to Maximum

Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds). If over 50 pounds must ask for assistance.

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; inside 50%; outside 50%; temperature -10o -130o F; work in environment that is not air conditioned; some exposure to elements; hard surface floors.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range Min-$15.90 Mid-$19.22 Max-$22.54 (Based on previous experience)
