Primary Purpose:

 

To effectively work with and monitor student behavior.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology
  • Able to work with students with significant behavioral needs
  • Trained in CPI or other crisis intervention program
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task complex administrative activities
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required

 

Experience:

  • Experience working with behavior and social skill intervention techniques preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Program Support

  • Assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with these students.
  • Work closely with administrators, teachers and the counselor to create and monitor student behavior contracts.
  • Work closely with teachers to develop behavior interaction plans for students.
  • Monitor student behavior in the building and in SAC.
  • Maintain SAC/discipline folder for all students placed in SAC.
  • Maintain file of student work completed in SAC.
  • Enter data in the computer concerning discipline actions. Observe students in the classroom and monitor the progress of students that have been assigned to SAC.
  • Assist with the arrival and dismissal of students.

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
  • Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

 

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals

Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head

Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Range: Min-$22,224 Mid-$26,280 Max-$30,337 (Based on previous experience)

2023-2024 Salary Schedule 

2024-2025 Salary Schedule is pending school board approval

Salary is based on working 187 days; working less days is less salary
