Primary Purpose
To assist in the receipt, marking storing, and the delivering of books, supplies, materials, and equipment.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- High school graduate or GED
- Valid Texas driver’s license with a safe driving record
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
- Flexible and able to adjust daily routine
Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in high volume warehouse environment
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Shipping
- Fill orders and perform routine housekeeping chores as directed.
- Maintain inventory in the assigned area.
- File requisitions accurately, quickly, and in the prescribed order.
- Make deliveries to district locations as required.
- Make deliveries to support district functions as required.
- Work special functions (i.e. central distribution sale, graduation functions, etc.) with notice.
Receiving
- Check-in and receive incoming merchandise per established receiving instructions.
- Stock all processed incoming freight.
- Tag all incoming central distribution stock per the program for stocking and inventory control.
- Keep merchandise clean and straight on stock shelves.
- Keep excess stock in good order in the established alternate locations.
Other
- Keep the distribution center clean and up to established safety standards.
- Keep delivery vehicles clean and orderly. Report any mechanical deficiencies to supervisors.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Manual Trades - Central Distribution Personnel.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; forklift or hydraulic lifting equipment; hand truck, dolly, and pallet jack; small hand tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting. (6 ½ hours standing/walking and 1 ½ hours sitting)
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying on a daily basis. (Lifting a minimum of 75 pounds frequently.)
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures (30O – 100O F), dust, toxic chemicals and
materials, noise, and vibration; work around moving objects or vehicles; may work alone; occasional prolonged or irregular hours
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Pay Grade
260 Days
Salary Range: Min-$14.62 Mid-$17.63 Max-$20.65 (Based on previous experience)
