Qualifications:Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate that includes Health Education or a Health endorsement Current ESL Certification: ESL Certification required within (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in the 2010-2011 school year Meet NCLB Highly Qualified criteria as required by assignment. Meets district minimum requirements for content area staff development (or will meet within one (1) year Special Knowledge/Skills: Teaching Technology Applications experience preferred Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal and time management skills Experience: Three (3) years classroom teaching experience Major Responsibilities and Duties:Plan and teach a program of study integrating technology and health education. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning. Establish and communicate clear objectives. Employ appropriate instructional methods and materials. Assess students’ accomplishments, continually. Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures. Assist in implementing policies and rules. Maintain professional competence through professional development. Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities. Implement classroom modifications for special education/504 students. Professional Growth and DevelopmentActively seek and participate in health and instructional technology professional growth. Comply with state, district, and federal laws; district and campus regulations and policies for instructional specialists as they exist or may hereafter be amended. Participate in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees as required. OtherFollow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
