ESL/ Bilingual Specialist @ Budewig

Primary Purpose:  

 

Coordinate the campus ESL programs including registration, instruction, assessments, training, and compliance.

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university 
  2. Valid educator certification and highly qualified status for the position advertised (grade appropriate)
  3. Valid ESL or bilingual certification (grade appropriate) 
  4. Minimum of three years classroom teaching experience as a teacher of ELLs
  5. English proficiency (oral and literacy skills); Bilingual preferred but not required
  6. Multiple grade level experience required (Elementary)
  7. STAAR Grades teaching experience required
  8. Trained in ELPS, TELPAS and Sheltered Instruction. All applicants must be SIOP trained.
  9. T-Tess: Proficient or above
  10. Knowledge & understanding of Language Development and Best Practices for instructing ELLs
  11. Instructional leadership skills and experience
  12. Knowledge & understanding of the district’s Bilingual Education Program (elementary and intermediate)
  13. Knowledge & understanding of the district’s Dual Language Program (elementary, intermediate and middle school)
  14. Knowledge & understanding of the district’s ESL program 
  15. Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, DMAC, Excel, Powerpoint, & Schoology
  16. Experience teaching reading and completion of Reading Academy.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting

Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head 

Lifting:Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)

Environment:May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide or in-state travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
