Primary Purpose:
Help staff with professional development to develop their classroom management and meaningful relationship skills and to assist staff with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- ESL Certification preferred or ESL Certification required within two (2) years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 2010-11 school year
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Involved with Above & Beyond Committee required: Facilitator experience preferred
- Safe & Civil Schools training in STOIC & Foundations Framework required
- Effective coaching skills resulting in positive change
- Strong understanding and experience with the Accountability System
- Rated proficient or higher on T-TESS preferred
- Presented campus level professional development
- Understanding of computer applications and willingness to learn emerging technologies
Experience:
- Five (5) years of successful experience in education as a teacher
- Multi-level and multi-content experience preferred
- Experience writing and executing successful behavior intervention plans
- Experience with data analysis to continuously improve campus climate
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
One of the primary purposes of this position is to assist in carrying out the district’s goal of improving student achievement by providing assistance to students who are at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school and/or staff who work with students at-risk of academic failure or dropping out of school.
Program Management
- Work with students in small groups for social emotional needs.
- Train and coach teachers on Safe and Civil Schools Classroom Management/Restorative Practices.
- Observe teachers and provide systematic feedback and data.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret campus discipline data.
- Lead behavioral PLC’s.
- Facilitate campus climate and culture initiatives.
- Design positive behavioral supports.
- Participate in the RtI process.
- Facilitate Above and Beyond Committee school meetings.
- Consult with campus administration and leaders to analyze discipline data related to campus goals.
- Design and provide campus specific professional development aligned to T-TESS.
- Attend professional development specific to the needs of the campus.
- Collaborate with PASS Specialists.
- Maintain an acceptable attendance rate – 94% annually (excluding approved leaves and emergencies).
- Maintain competence through professional development activities to meet building, district and/or federal requirements.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct the work of any assigned instructional aide(s).
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 30 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (30-60 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
